The daughter of a Vietnam veteran who served three tours. Marquette co-organizes the City of Iowa Colony’s Memorial Day and Veterans Day events, and takes part in Coffee Talk, Support Service Network, which brings organizations together on resources and solutions for veterans.
Farm or subdivision, everyone wants what is best for Iowa Colony. Marquette worked with Land Tejas, the developer behind Sterling Lakes and Sierra Vista, to bring the whole city together for Iowa Colony Day at Sterling Lakes.
Fourteen years teaching high school and college mathematics, including a term as Mathematics Department Chair for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. She knows what a classroom needs because she stood in one.
Twenty-one years practicing law in Texas and Louisiana, focused on helping families and individuals through personal crises: family law and probate. Compassion and a solution-oriented mindset, aimed at fair outcomes that let people move forward.
A small business owner herself. On council she works with the business community to attract the grocery stores, pharmacies, and services a growing city needs, revenue that funds the infrastructure, without losing the rural, small-town identity.
A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Kappa Omega Graduate Chapter. Service has run through her whole career, from the classroom to the courtroom to the council dais.
